Description
Barefoot’s “Save My Spine” is an innovative and horse friendly surcingle. Most surcingles apply a nut-cracker-like pressure on the horse’s withers – either to the sides or on top of the spinous processes. Our surcingle is different!
Underneath the “Save My Spine”, the horse’s withers remains unrestricted and there is no pressure – neither on the withers nor along the sides. The supports on both sides are padded softly and are extra wide, so that the horse’s muscles can develop without being squeezed.
There are five sturdy rings on both sides, so all auxillary reins (such as side reins) can be attached. You can also use long reins or double lunging reins in various positions. Our surcingle is made from genuine, sturdy leather, with a soft, constantly adjusting underlay that is made from foam and covered by suede leather. The fibre glass insert (size “medium”) fits most withers but you can be exchanged it for a different width if you need to. Our surcingle can be used with any standard dressage girth.
This surcingle is available in two sizes, one for larger horses and one for ponies. The important dimensions of these variants are the following.
Length from withers to first hole for girthing:
- Pony version – 55 cm
- Horse version – 65 cm
Length from withers to last hole for girthing:
- Pony version – 69 cm
- Horse version – 85 cm
The pony version can be used on all ponies whose wither height is 115 cm or higher.
