Saddle Pads

In the Barefoot system the pad is as important as the saddle: with the pad and its shims you shape the fit to the horse’s back. The range includes Physio, Expert and trail Physio pads, a kids’ pad, Physio underpad and separate shims. As Barefoot Baltics we stress that without a correctly set pad, a treeless saddle cannot deliver its main advantage — adaptability.

The Physio pad is built for fine-tuning: shims (four variants) let you lift or soften areas where the horse needs more space or support. Expert is a practical everyday pad; the trail Physio carries extra load for longer rides. The kids’ pad matches smaller saddles. The Physio underpad helps protect the back and soften contact.

Setting shims is a learnable skill — our how-to pages explain step by step how to shape the pad to the horse. When your horse changes through the year (typical in the Baltics: leaner in spring, rounder in autumn), you adjust the shims instead of buying a new saddle. With the right pommel insert, one pad often works across several horses.

Buying a new Barefoot saddle? Plan the pad and shims as part of the fit, not an afterthought. Already have a saddle and only need a pad? Tell us the model — we will help with size and type. The three-month saddle trial also gives you time to settle the pad setup calmly.
